As posted earlier, Kim was concerned about the length of The Other Half Show...with Kim du Toit. If it was a slow news day, he didn't want to bore everyone by making a list of short topics longer. He didn't want to cut the show to a half hour, in case there was a lot to talk about, or if there were lots of comments in the chat-room or long call-in discussions.

The solution was simply, really: When he's done, he's done. The Other Half Show...with Kim du Toit is still scheduled for an hour, but a show may be shorter, at Kim's whim and discretion. We hope that satisfies all.

Kim is considering the length of his show. It is currently one hour. He's thinking of changing it to 30 minutes. An hour is great if it is a big news day, but 60 minutes is a lot to fill when news is slow. What do you think?

Premiering on Monday, October 19: The Other Half Show... with Kim du Toit. Kim will be taking calls during the second half of the show, but the chatroom will be open for the entire show. He'll be discussing the news and ranting about the shenanigans in government and decadence of society.

Kim will launch his weeknights show on Monday, October 19. It will run Monday through Friday at 10:00 pm to 11:00 pm (Central). The show is late enough for night owls, but not too late for working folks. If you go to bed early, pick up the download the next morning to listen to on your mp3 player on your way to work. If you are an iTunes user, subscribe to "The Kim and Connie Show" podcast and "The Other Half Show" downloads will be included in your subscription. The show page on Blog Talk Radio is the same for both shows: BlogTalkRadio.com/kimandconnie.

We are preempting the scheduled topic (the Iran Nuclear issue) with the issue regarding the recent FTC ruling on bloggers gifts and endorsements.

Although the originally scheduled item is important, it is our opinion that the FTC ruling creates considerable risks for free speech and it is critical to discuss the item before it goes into effect in December.

Thanks for your feedback on this issue and we were feeling it too.

What issue? The issue of rushing and running out of time. We certainly didn't expect to have so many listeners and contributers so soon. This meant that we didn't have enough time to spend on the topics as desired. We weren't interested in putting out a 20 second sound byte type show. We wanted to take the time to explore each issue in depth, from discussion to conclusion/summary. We've addressed that by cutting our programming for each show in half. That will allow us more time to bring in listener feedback and spend more time talking to you.

We had 175 listeners for our premiere show last night. As of this morning, an additional 190 people have listened to the archive. We have our friends to thank for spreading the word about the show. Thank you!

Sean Kinsell, of White Peril, has agreed to be our guest for our first show on Saturday, October 3, 2009.

Sean is a very dear friend. Having someone as smart, calm, and erudite as Sean, especially as a guest for our first show, is a great benefit to us.
